Our Story

Aloof Home was founded in Japan in 2020 under Cresava Ltd. with a mission to tackle fashion waste and improve agriculture through Washi clothing. In 2023, aloof home became an independant company to further cater the consumer needs and focus on promoting washi and natural fibres in everyday living to reduce synthetic and fast fashion waste that detrimentaly impacts both land and sea.

Feels like Home

Our brand creates clothing and homewear products that transcend fleeting trends, remaining relevant season after season. Our pieces embody a classic and timeless quality, providing comfort for everyday making them ideal for long-term use. This minimalist approach gives our collections a sense of understated elegance, modernism, and versatility.

We integrate a ‘one mile’ philosophy into our designs, allowing our customers to effortlessly transition from home to outdoor settings without sacrificing style. Our garments are crafted to offer comfort and versatility, whether worn as loungewear or as chic attire from neighbourhood stroll to casual formal wear through layering.

Our Mission

With 1.92 million tonnes of garment waste produced every year, the fashion
industry is currently responsible for 10% of gas emissions and is forecasted
to increase by 50% by 2023 (earth.org). Furthermore, garments contribute
significantly to the issue of microplastic pollution, primarily because many are
crafted from materials such as nylon or polyester. During each laundering and
drying cycle, these fabrics release tiny microfibers that eventually find their
way into sewage systems and waterways. It’s estimated that approximately half
a million tons of these microplastic particles enter our oceans annually, posing
a serious environmental threat. To put this into perspective, this amount is
equivalent to the plastic pollution generated by over 50 billion bottles. As a
responsible clothing brand, we are committed to addressing this issue and
minimizing our environmental footprint.

At aloof home, we thrive in our business based on our unique 3E concept.

Environment, Education and Entertainment.

We believe that not only having environmental awareness but also changing
consumer behavior is vital to reducing the impacts of carbon emissions and
microplastic pollution. By adding the element of Entertainment, we hope to
create a fun and memorable experience for consumers to take home as part of
their lifestyle and share the experience with family and friends.

Our Washi

Collaborating with a washi manufacturer holding the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Certificate ensures our commitment to quality and sustainability. The majority of our washi is derived from Manila hemp, cultivated and nurtured in Japan without the need for pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Manila hemp, a fast-growing perennial plant, boasts remarkable regrowth capabilities, ensuring minimal impact on deforestation. This conscientious approach aligns with our dedication to environmentally-led practices and high-quality craftsmanship.

Washi also possesses remarkable properties that improve soil health when it biodegrades, contributing to biodiversity and supporting a resilient ecosystem, ultimately leading to the cultivation of nutritious crops

Power of Washi

Washi, crafted from natural elements, provides a comfortable option for individuals with sensitive skin, instilling confidence in its wearers. Its inherent breathability and moisture-absorbing qualities ensure a gentle experience on the skin, delivering year-round comfort regardless of the season.

Moisture regulation, heat retention, antibacterial and deodorizing properties, UV and infrared ray protection, and exceptional durability.
